In 1934, the US government passed the Migratory Bird Hunting Stamp Act, better known as the Federal Duck Stamp Act. This program required hunters to purchase a special stamp, in addition to a regular hunting license, to hunt migratory waterfowl. Revenues from the program provided the majority of funding for conservation for many decades and funded the purchase of the National Wildlife Refuge for waterfowl habitat. The Duck Stamp act has been described as ‘one of the most successful conservation programs ever devised’ and has ensured the safety of waterfowl populations for generations to come.
The SOUTHERN MARSH DUCK STAMP series embodies the historic program. Each design recognizes an element that the Federal Duck Stamp program was designed to preserve. Grab your Southern Marsh Duck Stamp shirt, waders, and shotgun and head to the blind.
